About Reinvision

Reinvision started in central NJ in 2004. Initially formed by guitarist/bassist Jake Skylyr and drummer James Borgese, the idea was to create a progressive metal band in the vein of bands like Dream Theater, Symphony X, etc., but with our own personal flair.

This remained as a duo until the addition of Mike Pignataro in 2005. Mikey brought an additional layer of technicality, broader soundscapes, and a heightened sense of energy. This trio was the core of Reinvision for a number of years.

Over the next few years, we saw a few singers, and a number of bassists try to enter the fold, but no one worked out.

2007 saw some significant milestones. Namely, was the upgrade to the name “Reinvision”. This was also when the band joined forces with guitar virtuoso Angel Vivaldi. For a brief period, Angel stood in as a bassist with the band, and even instigated/participated in the only live Reinvision show in the summer of 2007 at Six Flags Great Adventure. In exchange, throughout 2007, James, Mike, and Jake also stood in as members of Angel’s solo band, with James and Jake (on bass)  joining full-time by the end of the year.

With James and Jake focusing on Angel Vivaldi, Reinvision sort of shifted to the back burner for a few years. By early 2010s, Jake was left carrying the remnants of the torch of this project. Various attempts were made to keep the project alive, but the minor accomplishments were behind the scenes. Jake decided to use Reinvision as the umbrella for most of his solo ventures.

By 2017, Jake decided to try to pick up the pieces of the “original” Reinvision and turn it into something. Over the past few years, some of the original band tracks, coupled with some of the later tracks composed by Jake that were in a similar progressive metal vein were compiled into an album collection. This was to become “Hindsight”.

As of late 2024, sessions have been underway for this to be a complete album, geared for a vinyl LP (as well as digital) release. Once completed, it will be available for purchase/download all over, and Reinvision will continue into other ventures.
